Parts Of Speech Everyone Should Know:
1.
Is
an activity in this series that enables users to quickly grasp parts of speech
concepts, by employing a problem solving approach. It takes considerable effort for many early
learners to assimilate and easily discern the differences between the various parts
of speech. This activity has been
designed to ease that effort. It does
this by
a)
Requiring
the user to parse short memorable sentences from a whole to specific
perspective.
b)
Requiring
the user to construct their own short sentences that contain the eight parts of
speech.
c)
Projecting
the uniqueness of each one of the eight parts of speech, in an outlay that
allows the user to get the whole picture in one fell swoop; a process proven to
enhance comprehension and retention of learned facts.
2.
The
Clue Sheet is provided as a frequent reference in parsing or constructing
sentences. This should help the user to
commit part of speech definitions to memory by repeated usage (just like a
frequently used mathematical formula), and not by straight memorization.
3.
To
prevent users from looking up answer before doing the required amount of work,
the Answer Verification Chart can be easily extracted without damaging the
booklet.
4.
Users
can write answers on a separate sheet of paper, to avoid using a new booklet
for each activity session.
5.
Since
the activity is timed and standardized, it can be used for student
evaluation.
6.
The
activity is also an ideal tool for teachers to supplement class work, and to keep
pupils productively busy after regular class material has been covered.
Each activity consists of an 8½ by 11 inch
soft cover booklet that contains:
Twelve pages of Activity Fields™.
Five
pages of Answer Verification Charts™.
A Clue
Sheet.
